in this precise moment, estel luz stands on a precipice. wearing her vulnerability and transformation of the past decade, wounds wide open, 'cycles' presents itself as an immersive two part mixtape documenting a process of self-actualization for this deeply community-minded colombian-italian artist.

sitting in bed with a microkorg, space echo, and loop pedal she inhabits a dwelling of her own sonic volition, channeling a wisdom of patience, that instinctually taps into the natural beauty of her own high vibrations. there are audible remnants of a lifetime lived in proximity to cumbia and afro-colombian music and of formative years studying lauryn hill and erykah badu's albums like sacred tomes (in which they most certainly are). music as cultural movement, as communal celebration, shapes estel's personal practice to not only bear her own soul but to welcome and hold space for the voices of others.

through 'rooms in lo-fi' and 'cycles' we meet a cast of friends and collaborators, a totally badass woman coming into her own, and are invited to bear witness to a precious, singular relationship between estel and her songwriting. containing sonified self-portraits dating back to 2010, 'cycles' closes an eleven year rhythm, in which estel has learned that her vulnerability is one of her greatest strengths. through field recordings, interviews, voice memos, and studio sessions 'cycles' is estel's first physical release that brings us into her orbit. light up, lay back, and attune in.
